The Power of Belief: How to Train Your Mind Like a Pro and Win Bigger in Business

Anne Bachrach

You’ve got the experience. The systems. The metrics. The goals.

If you’re still waking up some mornings thinking “Am I really the one to take this business to the next level?”, welcome to the club.

The difference between those who plateau at “pretty successful” and those who shatter ceilings usually comes down to one thing: Belief.

Not blind faith. Not woo-woo affirmations taped to the mirror.

I’m talking about a trained, repeatable mindset that shapes your decisions, fuels your confidence, and gets you through the messy middle when logic says “stop” and belief says “keep going.”

This is where athletes, elite performers, and world-class entrepreneurs separate themselves. And you can, too.

Let’s unpack how this will help you be even more successful.

What the Pros Know: Belief Is a System, Not a Feeling

The top athletes in the world don’t just hope they’ll win. They train to believe they will.

Same with elite CEOs and founders. They build belief into their routines like reps in the gym. They don’t wait for motivation to strike, they create mental systems that default to I’ve got this.

The fact is that 80% of success is mental. Yes, EIGHTY, 8-0%!

While just 20% of success is the actual tactics and strategies of business.

95% of our thoughts are the same each day, and on average,

80% of our thoughts are negative!

Now train your belief to match the size of your dream vision.

The Power of Belief: How to Train Your Mind Like a Pro and Win Bigger in Business

Let me share just a few examples.

●       Michael Jordan visualized himself hitting the game-winning shot every day—before he ever got the ball. Visualization was part of Jordan's strategies, as he often visualized his success on the court. He emphasized the importance of seeing the end before it happens. For screenwriters, visualizing completed scripts or your pitch's success can be a powerful motivator.

●       Serena Williams journaled about the opponent she wanted to become before she could beat them. The journal entries focused on the specific qualities and strengths of the opponent she would eventually face, and she would journal about the qualities and strengths she wanted to cultivate within herself to match and overcome her.

●       Sarah Blakely, the founder of Spanx, attributed her success to a mindset that reframed failure as feedback, rather than a final outcome. She learned this from her father, who encouraged her to try new things and view failures as learning opportunities. This approach helped her persevere through numerous rejections when selling fax machines and later when developing Spanx. Blakely's ability to view failure as a learning opportunity was crucial to her entrepreneurial journey and ultimately led to her success.

See the pattern?

This isn’t magic. It’s mental training. And you don’t need to be an athlete to do it.

So, What’s Your “Head Junk”—and How Do You Override It?

Every entrepreneur has head junk. Those quiet-but-deadly thoughts that whisper:

  • You’re not ready.

  • You’re not smart enough.

  • You’re going to screw this up eventually.

Let me be blunt: if you don’t confront those stories, they’ll hold your business back from reaching even greater success.

Here’s how to start clearing the head junk:

1. Catch the Head Junk Thought

Notice the moment your brain starts spiraling. It’ll sound rational at first. (“Maybe I’m not cut out for this deal.”) Don’t push it away. Catch it like a scientist catching data.

2. Label It

Name the belief: That’s fear talking. Or That’s my perfectionism on autopilot. Labeling distances you from the thought—it’s not you, it’s a script.

3. Rewrite It

Replace the mental noise with something true and useful. Not a fake pep talk—a better version:

  • “I’ve solved harder problems than this before.”

  • “This isn’t failure. It’s feedback.”

  • “I’m learning at a level most people will never attempt.”

Repetition rewires your brain. Do it often enough, and belief becomes your default and not the doubt.

How Far Can Belief Actually Take You?

Here’s the honest answer: farther than skill alone.

I’ve seen people with average talent and unbelievable belief outperform people with all the credentials and zero courage.

Belief pushes you to:

  • Pitch the client you’re scared of.

  • Launch the product you’re overthinking.

  • Raise your prices when you’ve been undercharging for years.

And the wild part? When you believe you can, your brain starts looking for evidence to support it. It’s called the Reticular Activating System, which is a filter that literally reprograms your attention.

So instead of noticing risks, you start noticing possibilities.

That one shift alone changes your results.

What Happens in the Brain When You Believe?

Neuroscience time so don’t zone out now.

Belief rewires the brain in ways that affect your performance:

  • It boosts dopamine, your motivation chemical.

  • It strengthens neural pathways around positive behavior.

  • It weakens circuits tied to fear and self-doubt.

Belief also reduces stress hormones during high-stakes moments. Your body actually performs better under pressure when your brain expects a good outcome.

Basically, when the brain believes, it activates and reinforces specific neural pathways, essentially building "belief networks" that influence thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. These beliefs act as mental shortcuts, shaping how we interpret information and interact with the world.

Belief isn’t soft. It’s science. Beliefs drive vision, create strength of will, build resilience, and ignite action.

"Whether you think you can or think you can't, you'll always be right." – Henry Ford

The fact is that 80% of success is mental. Yes, EIGHTY, 8-0%!

While just 20% of success is the actual tactics and strategies of business.

95% of our thoughts are the same each day, and on average,

80% of our thoughts are negative!

Manifestation—Without the Fluff

You’ve heard people say, “Just manifest it.” And if you’re like me, you’ve probably rolled your eyes at least once.

Manifestation isn’t about magical thinking. It’s about priming your mind for action.

When you vividly imagine what you want, your brain starts treating it as real. That vision affects:

  • The risks you take

  • The people you attract

  • The decisions you make under pressure

Manifestation isn’t wishful thinking; it’s mental rehearsal for what you ideally want. Just like athletes visualizing the perfect swing or shot, you’re prepping your brain to succeed before you step onto the court.

The Secret Power of Belief? It Makes You Dangerous—in the Best Way

People who believe in themselves consistently are unstoppable because they stop hesitating.

They don’t waste energy second-guessing. They act faster, course correct quicker, and recover from failure without losing momentum.

That’s not just good for your mindset. That’s good for our business.

How Belief Shapes Behavior

Your beliefs dictate your behavior. Period.

If you believe you’re “not great at sales,” you’ll avoid pitches.
If you believe you “can’t lead a bigger team,” you’ll unconsciously keep your business small.

If you believe, “prospective clients don’t want to hear from me,” you won’t make the calls you need to make to get additional business.

If you believe success has to be hard, you’ll resist anything that feels too easy.

When you keep telling ourselves things that aren’t going to help move you forward and upward, you will stay where you are.

Flip the belief? You flip the action. And repeated actions become better and better results.

Robert Kiyosaki said: "It’s not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life, it’s what you whisper to yourself that has the most power."

Final Word: Mindset Isn’t Just a Buzzword—It’s a Competitive Advantage

In a world full of tactical advice—funnels, metrics, workflows—your belief system is the most overlooked and underutilized asset you have.

It’s what keeps you going when the launch flops, the ad account freezes, or your best hire quits. It’s what drives your next breakthrough when logic says to play it safe.

You already have the data. The team. The goals.

Now train your belief to match the size of your dream vision.

Your Next Step

Don’t wait for belief to show up. Build it. Utilize it even more.

  • Start with 5 minutes a day of visualizing the actual outcome you want, not the one you fear and don’t want.

  • Practice rewriting limiting thoughts as soon as they show up.

  • Surround yourself with people who stretch your thinking, not shrink it.

To recap, use these tips below to help you change a belief that isn’t helping you and supporting you in where you want to ultimately be in business and in life.

•      What beliefs do you currently have around your goals?

•      How is this serving you?

•      Is this really true?

•      What’s possible if this belief were different?

•      Look for evidence to the contrary.

•      Actively choose to change your belief.

•      Act as if it’s already true.
